| Drummer Alexander has been part of many of New York's Radical Jewish music ensembles, including Hasidic New Wave and Klezmatics. And while this CD has many of the usual suspects (most of whom have released their own CDs on the Tzadik label), Alexander proves himself a truly accomplished composer and leader. This has as much tunefulness as any good klezmer collection, but it takes it (along with punk, jazz and so much more) to a new, exciting place. For those libraries that wonder if this segment of Tzadik's releases is really growing, the answer is a definite yes. (Dan Cherubin) | ||
